Lunching Goose

Trying new 80-400 VR lens. f8 @ 1/250 @400mm handheld, VR on. Top cropped only.

The goose had just jerked her head from the water as the shutter clicked, and water is still running over her eye.

The refection is too close to the frame as I couldn't judge how far her head would rise when she came up.

Great exposure. You can see detail even in the black feathers. Well done!

I like the fine detail of the feathers. The color is nice too. Have fun with the new lens.

I like the coloring, the reflective nature of the water, and how the beak still in the water works to unite the reflection of the goose and the reality of the goose into a coherent whole. That lens should really bring creatures such as goose right into the lap of the viewer.

Looks good from here, Ruth. You'll get a lot of use out of that lens.

Nice close up. The details and position of the neck are appealing.

Very nice--the ripples and water running off her head are great! I am sure that you will enjoy your new lens.

Sorry, the more the better.
Very elegant BW dress for a goose.

Very nice, Love the clarity on the duck and the dark crystal of the water.

Ditto on the water droplets and the excellent feather detail.
