Peafowls and Clouds

I made this image at Daroji Bear Sanctuary in India a week back. Nikon D300, Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 vr, close to full frame.

I like the silhouetted forms of the peafowl set against the lightness of the sky... there is the sense of them dancing to a tune that only they can hear. I also find the varied colors of the clouding to be quite striking while at the same time serving as a strong backdrop for the two silhouetted birds.

An outstanding silhouette composition.

Very nice! Clouds make all the difference.

You caught very good poses of the birds, and the clouds are interesting as well as providing the light background for the silhouettes. Oops, I guess that's been said already. Well, I agree.

It was a good idea to silhouette the birds against that warm, cloudy sky which beautifully completes the remainder of the frame. Personally, I like frames that draw the eye into the subject, so would prefer a black frame, with a white stroke inside. Here's an example.

Thanks Ruth for your views. I did consider black border but I felt boulder and birds being dark in the image black border slightly dilutes the viewers focus on the them. Some time back I tried to understand how different shaded borders interact with the subject. I'd prefer you left the picture borderless, except for a thin black stroke. We can click on the image to see how it appears on black or grey or white. The wide borders take away that option.

Love what is inside that frame, the silhouetted birds and the clouds are wonderful. Agree with Linda about the border, at least to see on PC, where the background color can be changed - for me the gray would be the best one to focus the viewers attention to the image.
