Twenty-three year old Civil War Casualty
Comments by Luka Ban on Wed, 05/30/07 03:42 I like this reduced color expression which assists the image in conveying its message. Comments by Jan Bjorklund on Wed, 05/30/07 09:00 The toning of the image and the light highlighting the vertical nature of the grave marker works for me. Looks as if this is a well tended site for a grave that is nearly 150 years old. Comments by Ruth Rittichier on Wed, 05/30/07 09:17 Well processed to give an "old" look. The woodsy setting works well. Comments by Linda Frey on Wed, 05/30/07 13:02 I like the toning, too. Interesting subject. Comments by Linda Frey on Wed, 05/30/07 16:12 I didn't say how wonderfully sharp the lettering is on that stone. Maybe being in the trees has helped to protect it, but you did a good job on the photo, Julie. Comments by Maria Salvador on Wed, 05/30/07 17:19 I like the toning too. A nice find, and the flags give it a lot of emotion. Comments by Steve Owen on Wed, 05/30/07 18:44 Excellent! Wonderful composition and detail. Reminds me of Gettysburg--one of my favorite places. Comments by G.B. SHETTLER on Wed, 05/30/07 19:39 Nice photo and nice work Julie...excellent focus on the main subject. Good camera work or good after blur & sharpening...doesn't matter, it turned out great. Love the sharp edges of the stone. Comments by DebbiK on Fri, 06/01/07 16:33 I see you like cemetery shots, too!! I like the sepia toning on this. Very appropriate. Comments by Caillault on Sat, 06/02/07 02:02 Hi, foot and mouth diseased Julie !
Comments by Caillault on Mon, 06/04/07 03:00 Hi Julie, thanks for the answer.
Comments by Julie M. Dant on Mon, 06/04/07 13:35 Michel, thanks for the visual suggestion. I see what you mean. It really brings out the details on the trees well and I believe the stone itself pops out more to the viewer. I like your idea, too, but I think I will stay with the darkened shot as I believe it conveys a more somber mood befitting the subject matter. I will experiment some more, though, as I love to get ideas and hope you will continue to suggest yours for me, so thanks a lot! Comments by DebbiK on Fri, 06/08/07 18:23 I prefer the OP dark muted version Comments by Garry Schaefer on Sat, 06/09/07 17:29 Ditto for me on the mood of the op. Good work! |
