A great look and that hat... hey I've got one except mine is brown not green How does one get to be an ex poet... I thought once a poet... always a poet. An ex geographer yes... an ex social worker yes... an ex poet... I guess when your hat gets a hole in it and all words and dreams are swept away on the wind.

Oh my G! I LOVE your portrait of this man.. the ex poet, Luka! I think it is a perfect portrait. I like his calm expression and the coloring is super! If I could paint well enough, I would paint this! Did you get his name? I bet he would LOVE to have a copy of this! WELL DONE!

This shot was taken at the outdoor table of an restaurant. It was our second coincidental meeting that morning. First one had taken place in front of a store. In both cases he was drinking beer. My post is the only photographs in the series that present him as a poet, yet ex. In all others you can see only a man with a certain problem.

The man's character comes through in this and technically it is well done, too. The close cropping seems appropriate.

Great character portrait. Do you have one with eye contact?

Ditto to all the above. A great expression caught. And I'm sure it will work fine on B&W too.

A great face, Luka. Great hat, too. I'd agree with Jan. He could be a poet who has lost his muse, perhaps, but never an ex-poet. ;-)

i like the first much better - perhaps it more voyeuristic. in the second, he caught me staring. maybe he's only an ex-poet if there's a hole in his soul?
