I like the quality of the lighting, the bluish hue (enhances the sense of cold from the snowy setting of Yellowstone National Park) and the inclusion of the silhouetted buffalo (a sense of strength and determination comes through from the buffalo).

A fascinating place, which seeing images like this, make me want to make the trip even more

IMO, the horizontal shadows across the lower area are very distracting and we don't see the base of the trees. Maybe moving in closer or ussing a higher camera angle would have eliminated the foreground. Holding my hand over the right side of the image seems to make for a better composition. Therefore, I would crop off the smaller tree on the right.

Interesting thought Bob, thank you. Les, it's a great place with incredible variety. A bit chilly
in the morning, though! Thanks Sandi and Jan for the comments.

I agree with Sandi that there is a magical feel to your photo. Very well done.

I liked this when I first saw it but did not comment. This is a case
where I like the blue cast. I think I would likely have stepped a little
to the left to create more separation between the bison and the trees.
It would create a better balance. You might even try it cropped to
square to improve the balance of what you have here.

Above all else I seek balance in an image.
