Dang that's cold looking. Really like that splash of color of the engine.

Nothing works like snow with trains I think and here is a great example with the colors of the engine popping in the picture... a real 3D feel with the train coming right down the tracks towards the viewer. Boy it looks like you stepped right back into winter on Friday rather than forward into spring.

Thanks guys

Tried this in grayscale and it didn't work well - the bit of color in the engine really adds to the image

(yeah it was cold) - the day after was clear and warm - have some shots to post

Yes, that a quite a nice picture...fresh white spring snow and the engine works for me...viewpoint is good too.

Well done. IMO the engine's lights make the photo. It would be a dead scene if they were
off. Goes to show that work goes on even in the worst weather.

Agree with Jeff, the engine's lights make it for me too, but I also like all those convergent lines and the soft background mist.

So much to like here - I like how you lined the edge of the building with the post, to make them as one, and not intrusive. Dark items on the edges hold the eye in the frame of all that misty background. The lights and yellow demand the viewer's attention.

I like it too. Just let all those comments above speak for me.

I like this photo, I love train photos. I think if you were able to step back a bit, and get the entire switch, that would add a lot of me, personally. I like to see how the train is lined. Since you got the frog, I don't think you would have to move back that far to get the switch points. Great photo.

thanks everyone - I was a little nervous shooting in this area - had a security guy pull up behind me just as I was leaving one area

Kathryn if I had moved back to the switch point would have been run over by the train to the left :-) It was moving.

This was the area I was leaving when the security showed up:
