View on BLACK, please. Jan and Richard, sorry I had to delete your posts, too, but I didn't like the other version as well.

If it wasn't so slippery (in all likelihood) I would have walked the plank just to get more of a view of just the speckled nature of the water created by the alternating black water and white ice (I mentioned swiss cheese before but now I'm getting more of the coat of cat such as a leopard). I really like the contrast between between the black water and white ice... just not a quality of ice that one sees often in my area.

I think I liked the foreground on the other one better, and the background (trees) on this one.

Most interesting 'polka dots' on the pond. The trees reminded me of John Wise's photos of the stream near his house. Think I'll wait until it warms up to use the pier.

Did not see the other. This is wonderful. From the lacy backdrop of the trees to the displayed palette of the Winter painter. Well seen and perfectly done!

looks quite peculiar! I like it!

That plank certainly looks very slippery - I wouldn't like to trust walking along it!
The water is interesting with the small areas where the ice has melted - I posted a picture with a similar feature some weeks ago.
Nice picture Ruth!

A very beautiful photo, Ruth. I love the high contrast between the blacks of the water and trees and the white of the snow. Technical elements are as perfect as I can tell. Very nice.

I like the frosting of snow on the trees. It does look similar to my territory! This version is excellent.

I always have loved the trees with snow plastered on them and these are some magical looking ones. The odd warmer pools of the lake that haven't frozen over yet are a real plus for a great look here. Wonder why it freezes all 'round in circles like that in some waters? Very nice one Ruth!
