Union Station Underpass, Winnipeg, Mb.

The snow has not reached Winnipeg but every day brings it a little closer to the city and I fully expect to wake one morning this week to find a landscape covered with a white blanket of snow. So I thought I would post a few pictures from winters past.

This image reminds me of a furnace with a view from sitting in the furnace to a wintry landscape at the end of the underpass. I found the inclusion of the solitary soul added to the impact of the picture, for me.

Waiting for the Voyageur Sled Dogs race to start. I nice brisk -25C to lie in the snow and take this picture and an even brisker -34C windchill for the two dogs to stand and wait for the races to start.

Beautiful dogs, people, snow and winter... :)
Thank you, Jan!

I like the OP and the one of the dogs very much.
Nice red under the bridge in the OP. The dog image is kind of funny. It looks like the dark
dog has food stuffed in his cheeks and a guilty look because of that.

groetjes,
Monique

The pooch image reminds me of the LP cover, "There's One In Every Crowd" by Eric Clapton hehehe

Jan, great series!
the OP struck me as different then your previous images. The OP and the images following (except the 2nd image) in the comment section have an increased saturation compared to your usual posts. Have you changed your post work methods?

I like the sled dogs the best...amusing. Your winter shots is really giving me the 'chills'....;-)

I liked them all, the OP is really interesting to look at.

We've had a few days of snow already. Not the cold snow shown in your photos, but wet, slushy stuff.

The OP does look like looking out of a furnace. Not that I've looked out of a furnace. And the dog pic is neat. Those curlers are looking cold!

The whole series is nice, each for its own. Especially love the OP. Very creative, and the solitary soul braving from a cold Winter to hell's gate adds a strong feel to the image. My second favorite is the third photo. Those dogs spell "patience" loud and clear!

I've been away this week, and now trying to catch up with a few comments. I really like the OP - and the others too - but - the expression on the face of the nearest dog is priceless!!
