I like your macro image of the lily with the stamens seemingly bowing to the viewer... inviting them into the image to take a look around.

I find a gray background color enhances the detailing in your macro composition, complements the colors of the image and, for me, enhances the contrast between the stamens and the background resulting in a heightened 3D feel in the image.
