The vigilant

May be I fulfilled my aim or may be not, but the editing meant to create an image that transmitted the feel of the brave little dog, which protects and cares for all the people of his neighborhood...

The original, shot at about mid afternoon of an overcast day:

No tripod, and the histogram says no blown out highlights on the original, but I agree, the light is quite ugly!

Surreal effect on the B&W version, Maria... :)
So nice and new.

Compliments to the dog model also.

The B&W image is much better. I like the processing of the original.

I like your b&w version in which the brave little dog stands out strongly on the staircase. Many of the less pleasing elements of the original are eliminated in the b&w version such as the pigeons, the garbage container, etc., with the eyes of the viewer continually returning to the little white dog.

I like the OP version as well...maybe a little dark for me though. Cute dog too.;-)

Wow, terrific! That is one stalwart dog. I like the color version best for revealing the aging stone and the local architectural style, and the B&W for its more than satisfactory fulfillment of your aim.

I like it in B&W, but also in colour. B&W hides some features, as Jan said, but colour shows the greenery growing in the steps, which show that the steps are aged, and not well-used now.

I like the B&W, and the treatment you used. That little dog looks so regal as he stands at attention.

I vote for the B&W version, as well......the dog is posed in just the right spot, too. If you don't mind though, the title that popped into my mind for this was, "The Sentinel " :-)

They both have their merits but I prefer the colour. In either case I
think I would darken the bright wall on the upper right.
