I like the intimate feel that is created by the nature of the poses of the individuals in the picture and the inclusion of the hands of the various people, the quality of the lighting with the grouping caught in a golden bullseye, and the contrast between the four people and their surroundings which works to bring a 3D feel to your composition.

Such a tender, beautiful composition, Christopher... :)
Bravo!

Another wonderful image--so full of energy and emotion!

I've looked at this several times this morning trying to get inside the picture so to speak.
I can't tell if it's completely candid, completely posed, or a combination of both. I'm
curious about what has their attention that would cause mom to be so protective. The
mother and girls look somewhat apprehensive. The boy is just the opposite with the big
smile or laugh. One of the girls is wearing an apron which tells me that they may have
just come outside to witness something. I like the vignetting but IMO it would work
better as a B&W. The gold toning seems overdone. You've won awards for your
portraiture and deserved them. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like you may be
abandoning the more simple approach in an effort to outdo what's been done before.
That's not to say you shouldn't make the effort to get better but overall this one is a step
back IMO?

Overall I like it very much, it transmits a lot of emotion. Yet, as Jeff, I'm puzzled with the kind of contradiction between the protective posture of the mother, who looks concerned, and the smiling faces of the children, even excitation in the case of the boy. :-) The reason that comes to mind is that they may be watching too close fireworks... Is that it?

Whatever the intent, I like this a lot. So much to look at and wonder about...

" Fun, excitement, concern but no real danger ", is what I seem to read in the faces.... "Together " title says it all. Eye-catching photo with lasting interest .....

IMO, the only thing that is not right about this photo is the hidden child behind the Adult. Her/his legs and arm (wrapped around the adults waist) are visible but that’s all one could see. I’m surprised that I’m the only one who’s commented about this. I feel as though it’s quite obvious and makes the photo a bit confusing.

Wonderful scene. Beautifully rendered. Toning is completely consistent
with your style. Even though your choice of toning isn't to my personal
taste I can appreciate it's artistic merit as apparently do many
others, including worthy photo judges. You have an exceptional talent.

It tells a wonderful story, but do I count nine legs?

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I perfectly agree with your comments.
This photo was taken in a re-enactment. The mother was pretending to be
protecting the children because in front of them there was a fight. The
young boy was more enjoying his role and than acting as being afraid.
There are 9 legs because one of the children is hidden behind the
mother.
