Fire!

Hi to PC participants. It's been a long while since I've posted (although I browse from time to time). Here's one from this year's very successful Tall Ships Festival.

I like this image set against a black background which helps to draw out the detailing to be found in the tall ships. The reflections work, the smoke works, the detailing in the form and lines of the tall ships all combine the create the sense of being in the middle of the action. And at full sail also.

Garry, it is good to see you show up every now and again. I used to lurk for many of the years that you posted on Photocritique, although I did tell you about the show that I participated in at the Winnipeg Conservatory. Nice photo.

Good to have you back Garry! Great looking ships - is this festival an annual event?

One can only imagine the fun of kids while looking at these fighting brigs... :)

Beautiful indeed...

Hi Garry! Great to see your name again. And a fine shot of the tall ships, with their sails unfurled, and smoke from their guns!

Thank you for your generous comments. To Steve's question, the Victoria Tall Ships Festival seems to be on a once in two years sched. This is our second since moving here. :-)

Yay, Garry! You captured it well. It's hard. They're here in Portsmouth, NH every now and
then in the summer. However, they appear to arrive mostly at midday in a blasting sun or in
a fog, with no wind & no sails. You did well and caught the cannon smoke as well!
: )

Hey Garry! You and your great shots have been missed. You helped me out and were so kind to me when I first began and I want to thank you for helping to ease me in. ;0)
This is a great looking historically romantic looking shot. I like that the one's sails are showing up white, while the other is catching the afternoon, I'm guessing, sun, and shows up a different color. I've always wanted to sail on one of these tall ships. Maybe one day. Wonderful photo and I bet it was a great show!

Nice to see you back - and with a very interesting photo! Very nice too, as a page of a history book.

Now I've forgotten. Where the hell did you move to? Off the coast of spain?

Yet here, Garry! aboard, aboard, for shame!
The wind sits in the shoulder of your sail...glad you are back.

Hey Garry! What's wrong with your camera?
It seems to have stopped taking pictures!
