Very nice. A little hard to tell what she's holding, though.

Another great portrait from you. Well done!

Beautiful shot! I like it because it looks like a contemporary posed portrait that is aware of being a portrait; unlike your other images which, despite being technically proficient, are somewhat sentimental and fall into the realm of commercial photography. This picture, on the other hand, embraces its subject as a posed model and it completely works on a higher plane of art. The lighting is superb and so is focus and composition.

My only complaint, aside from the elbow area, is the fact that I have no idea what she is holding. Is it a bone? It looks like the lower jaw of an animal (which is actually quite fascinating!). But your title tells us it is a shell... bummer. I wanted it to be a cat jaw or something morbid like that, so that it would be unexpected to see a young girl holding a piece of skeletal remains versus a shell, which is rather more trite.

It's really a phenomenal image. I would like to see many more from you like this (with the same lighting and detail intensity), with more conceptual and cerebral poses such as this. I can imagine this printed at a massive scale and hanging in a contemporary gallery.

P.S. Change the title to: "Lower Jaw of the Family Cat". You'll thank me later.

Very beautiful work only the elbow is being hidden. I still wish I could shoot this good! I like the contrast too!
