I've seen a number of photos from this area and the layering in this one is outstanding.
It's so good that IMO it would arguably be even better without the dark foreground area.

I like the manner in which the darkened foreground serves to anchor the layering of lightness caught in the hazy distant mountain ranges. I tried cropping to just the lightness of the far mountains and while that also works to create a striking image I just find the contrast between the darkened foreground foliage and the lightness of the distant mountains appeals to me.

Tremendous scene, I and I like this shot a lot. I would try cropping out about the lower half of the dark mountain ridge for different feel to the image. I don't know that it would necessarily be a better composition, but I would be a good change of pace.

Perfection, IMHO Steve!!! What time in the AM do you have to get up to see this misty mountain display? Love it.
