I like the layering of colors that serve as steps for the eye of viewer to lead them vertically through the image (also how the color complement each other). I also find the interplay of shadowing and sunlight quite pleasing (especially the horse like shape of the shadow in the middle ground of the photograph). One has the sense from the arid nature of the landscape that this water is something of real value here and hence the barbed wire.

An imposing scene perfectly exposed and composed. Love the rabbit brush (or whatever the green is) texture and color that sets off the biotic zones. Altogether harmonious even with all the contrasts. Masterful.

Layers of wonderful contrasting colours - love the composition Jeff!

Even if you were restricted this composition is just right. It leads our eye through the grasses and onto the layers of the mountain with their contrasting colours.

I like the variations in textures and colours from front to back.

Jeff, this is very well composed, looks like you made the best of the lighting you had, and the FG elements that were available. Just wondering if this might be a candidate for an ND grad (?)

Jeff, very nice capture. I too like a good foreground to add depth to the scene. The grass is perfect.

I really like your choice of the vertical, Jeff. The layering and the different textures make it. I like.

I'm with Julie about the successive layers of different textures. And I also like the muted colors. Quite a contrast with 'your' red rock, but both are beautiful, each in their own way!
