Migrating from the south as a harbinger of Spring perhaps. The contrast between the diffused feel of the background and the foreground sunflowers and the crossbill serves to bring a 3D feel to the foreground elements in the picture. The catchlight in the bird's eye brings the crossbill to life right before my eyes.

Looks like a Sparrow but different color. I like the way it stands out
in your bokeh background, and the highlites in the eyes.

Aww..Linda...I am REALLy likeing this one! I love how the colors are all blending together to make one cohesive photo. Nature's amazing to offer such beauties for us to capture, huh? Not sure what winter has been like in your neck of the woods but it has been absent out here in Toronto.

This is a lovely shot, although the background boke is a bit strident, but that certainly is not the a fault of your technique.
