Like a steaming pancake.

I really like your composition when the picture is set against a black background. I like Ruth's sense of the image. There must be a technical name for this kind of cloud formation but I'll stick with the steaming pancake.

Ruth, now I cannot look at the image without getting hungry...
Nice one, Karen!

I don't know the names of the various cloud formations either, but I do know the streaky ones are probably a few thousand feet above the fluffy ones. You have a good eye for attractive combinations.

Very nice. Quite an unusual (at least to my eyes!) combination of clouds. Very interesting and pleasing.

Yep, I have seen some quite fancy clouds around lately, Usually at work when my camera is at home watching Judge Judy. Nice sky shot Linda !

Nice take.

Must be living on a small Island but very rare those little white fluufy ones appear here, tends to be dense layers of grey or clear blue skies

Hmmmm...a steaming cloud! Now what would make it do that? Hot rain in there? Let's just hope it simmers down before it pours.. ;0) Very cool!! er...hot

Ditto Ruth and Julie. Just from the oven!

Such a nice exposure. I enjoy the gradations of blue. Those high cirrus clouds (mare's tails) sometimes precede rain in the next day or so, so the trekker should be anticipating that. All Canadians know this.

Van Gogh-esque cirrus clouds...

I love the way it looks like smoke is coming from the clouds. It is an interesting picture, and it is beautiful. I love it!

This is truly a wonderful cloud photo, Linda.

At first I personally did not see any steaming clouds, pancakes or towels. Looking at the thumbnail, and even the first few seconds of looking at looking at the posted photo, my eyes immediately started searching for a surfer and his board.

Beautiful Shot!
