Aurora Borealis April 4th, 2010

I was only a few minutes from home when I glanced out the window and thought it might be Aurora Borealis in the sky. I stopped and took a long exposure and yup....green! While taking some test shots and getting my settings in order the sky really came alive. My first time ever shooting Aurora Borealis and I am quite happy with the results.

Great color set against the darkness of the night time sky. Always think of the Northern Lights as dancing and this image captures that sense for me. What was the exposure for this shot?

Love it! The greens are really something and that shaft of light is amazing.

You should be "happy with the results." Must be an exciting thing to see. I like the comp
where you've left just enough ground to give it some foundation.

Excellent from me, too.

I haven't seen any northern lights for a while. Too many clouds, and/or not enough magnetic activity? Either way, my attempts at photos didn't show up as nicely as yours did.
