Another WOW portrait, Chris. A must for your next book.

I like the manner in which the light highlights the features of the individual, his hand and the candle which works to create a sense of flow in the image, the contrast between the individual and the background which works to make the man stand out strongly in the image, and the clarity of detailing that is brought in the man's features by the light.

Very good, as usual. I do prefer these candids to the subject looking out.
I seem to find the right wrist a little disconnected. At least on my monitor. Maybe if the shadow on the sleeve was not quite so dark.

a wonderful image. Excellent double exposure and comp.

Thank you all for your comments.
Rick, I see your point but on my monitor the right wrist doesn't look disconnect.
Bahman, this is a single exposure. The only things I did in photoshop were adjusting the levels and cropping. I lit this image by bouncing a studio light against a silver umbrella and I also used a reflector. The lighting was very critical and took me about an hour to set it properly. Fortunately, the model is my friend, who take care of the old chapel in which the photo was taken, is very patient.

Thanks for the explanation; I was wondering how you got such wonderful light.

Very nice indeed. great conveyance of concentration and involvement in lighting the candle.

Just wondering if a gold reflector/umbrella might have added something with a warmer/softer light

other than the hand issue, what an extremely wonderful photo.

Thank you all for your feedback. Following Rick and Shettler's comments I've decided to light up the right wrist.

The OP is more to suggest that he is highlighted only by the candle than the re-work, but I like both. Very expressive and well done, as always!

Another wonderful portrait! Fantastic lighting!

I agree with Maria. IMHO, the reworked version detracts a little. The OP is outstanding

I disagree with Maria and J.I. For me, while the added portion of the hand is a shift. What is the shift ? the shift for me is the balance in space (black or dark space). The original balances better within the dark space. But what is the object of this photo. To me, spend a bit more time on the new worked hand and a better eccense/feel is produced. A compliment to the other details are produced. A better longevity to a photo on ones wall, with out eventually nitpicking the floating hand ?? NIce re-work ! would now like to hear your view on these different opinions.
