Candle in the dark
Comments by Ruth Rittichier on Wed, 08/08/07 06:22 Another WOW portrait, Chris. A must for your next book. Comments by Jan Bjorklund on Wed, 08/08/07 08:21 I like the manner in which the light highlights the features of the individual, his hand and the candle which works to create a sense of flow in the image, the contrast between the individual and the background which works to make the man stand out strongly in the image, and the clarity of detailing that is brought in the man's features by the light. Comments by Rick Longworth on Wed, 08/08/07 09:18 Very good, as usual. I do prefer these candids to the subject looking out.

Comments by G.B. SHETTLER on Wed, 08/08/07 20:19 other than the hand issue, what an extremely wonderful photo. Comments by Christopher Azzopardi on Thu, 08/09/07 03:49 Thank you all for your feedback. Following Rick and Shettler's comments I've decided to light up the right wrist.
Comments by Maria Salvador on Thu, 08/09/07 08:03 The OP is more to suggest that he is highlighted only by the candle than the re-work, but I like both. Very expressive and well done, as always! Comments by Steve Owen on Thu, 08/09/07 08:31 Another wonderful portrait! Fantastic lighting! Comments by J.I. Rogers on Thu, 08/09/07 23:47 I agree with Maria. IMHO, the reworked version detracts a little. The OP is outstanding Comments by G.B. SHETTLER on Fri, 08/10/07 20:16 I disagree with Maria and J.I. For me, while the added portion of the hand is a shift. What is the shift ? the shift for me is the balance in space (black or dark space). The original balances better within the dark space. But what is the object of this photo. To me, spend a bit more time on the new worked hand and a better eccense/feel is produced. A compliment to the other details are produced. A better longevity to a photo on ones wall, with out eventually nitpicking the floating hand ?? NIce re-work ! would now like to hear your view on these different opinions. |
