Rural Manitoba

I couldn't have asked for a better subject to catch the last bit of this amazing sunset. I was lucky to find this old Massey Ferguson tractor in a field. To add a cherry on top of the icing on top of the cafe, a little bird flew in and landed on the steering wheel as I was taken this shot. At first it was bouncing around too quickly to get a good shot, never mind 3 exposures for HDR. To my amazement, it stayed almost perfectly still for the 3 shots then flew away. This was a great end to what was one of the best explorations I've had in a long time.

Just for the color of the sunset and the blue of the snow this would be a great capture of the going down of the sun on the Manitoba Prairies but then the Massey Ferguson tractor and the little bird on the steering wheel bring this image to another level. One has a real sense of place from the picture while the tractor sitting alone out in a snow covered field makes one wonder why... from my perspective the tractor still looks as if it is in running condition. Striking composition!

Fantastic! I especially like the way the snow has surrounded the Canadian-made tractor. Those days are gone forever...

The thumbnail caught my attention because I recognized it was a Massey. Very interesting shot, the sunset colors are perfect. You caught a lot of textures and meaning in this shot. I like.
