Your b&w rendering really creates a striking floral composition. I like the clarity of detailing, the overlapping leaves that works to create a sense of depth in the picture, and the sense of a finely crafted b&w drawing.

I really like this shot alot, Dan. The lighting is absolutely perfect. Can you comment on your processing technique?

Exceptionally nice, Dan! The texture and detail on the leaves is superb, not to mention the quality of lighting.

Outstanding. Too bad this type of plant can't grow in B&W. Sure looks better than green and it'd save processing time.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Christopher: no elaborate post processing here. The original image was a rather monochromatic shade of bluish green and, shot outdoors in overcast conditions, not particularly contrasty. I converted to B&W with Power Retouch Black and White Studio, which enables various contrast and color filter adjustments, my objective being to boost the contast to bring out the leaf edges and surface texture. After that, with the same objectives, I cranked the sharpening up near crunchy -- et voila. I think the reason this turned out as well as it did was due to the nature of the leaves themselves. They were covered in a fine fuzz, which had the effects of adding texture and also gathering light, both of which effects were then amplified in the processing.

Agree with previous - a fine piece of work.

Good contrast here to bring out the edges of the leaves and as Jan says the overlaping does help to give a sense of depth to the picture.
