The lake froze last week, leaving lots of interesting bits of ice on the shore.

Interesting contrasting textural sense between the rocks and the ice... one feels as if they could reach right into the image and touch the cool ice and the rocks. I'm surprised that you have this much ice in your area... we have had snow here in Winnipeg but the ice is non-existent so far.

More they are similar to small pieces of sugar floating in the cup of
tea, with which you can play a little, Linda... :)

Delicious seasonal image.

Very cool! Excellent composition; the ice chippy things are really interesting.

Nice composition Linda,

Have you had a look at this in "Selective Color: in Photoshop ?
Not saying it needs correction ...
I'm just saying' ...

.

Lost a lot in the jpeg of a jpeg but you get the idea ...

Alias, I like the change in the rocks but how about leaving the ice blue to convey its coldness?

Thanks Ruth,

My version is not intended to say how I think Linda's image should look,
but only to ask if she is aware a very useful tool to help her to express what she feels.

This is her work and she should make her own esthetic choices,
but "selective colo(u)r" ;-) is a very effective tool to do exactly what you suggest.

I'd love to see your version.

Thanks, Donald. Your version is good. I did try some less-blue versions, but preferred the blue and dark rocks.

Nice contrast of textures and well done. The blueness of the ice is a sweet touch.

Nice, and nice to see winter creeping in...

I never get to experience ice displaying this behavior in part of the world - pretty neat.
I like the blue to convey cold in the ice but I prefer the stones to be white balanced. Overall a little brighter too. Just my preference

Well...I like your op just as it is, Linda. Makes me shiver to think of you standing outside up there in the winter...although...if there is no wind...maybe I could stand there with ya................for about TWO MINUTES TOPS..before I start whining and mumbling something from my numb lips about Hot Chocolate....tee hee.
Love looking at those Ice plates...so interesting...we don't get that here in Southern Indiana, at least I've never seen it.
