#500 Toledo Harbor Light Guides The Baltimore

The Baltimore Enters Toledo Harbor Guided by the Toledo Harbor Light.

This is my 500th post, and the last of my Lighthouse series. The lighthouse does take a back seat to the ship, but that's it's function.

Here's the Toledo Harbor lighthouse up close in all its glory. It sits well out in Lake Erie.

Oh, I forgot. Please note the ghost in the upper left window.

I like the opening picture with the tall ship sailing past the lighthouse.

I was wondering about the figure in the image and I thought the lighthouse was still manned until I did a Google and discovered that it is actually a mannequin put there as a security measure since the lighthouse is now unmanned.

Just trying to imagine what it must have been like to have worked on this lighthouse miles from shore.

The splendid series of lighthouses is over, the tall ships' one
started... :)
Thank you Ruth!

Congratulations on your five hundredth post !
I like everything about this image very much,
except the buoy which seems incongruous.

Love the ghost, Ruth, we have an old lighthouse nearby that used to be used for Halloween, they take ppl out at night and try to make it scary.
Congrats on your 500th post!

Very nice. It beautifully ends your lighthouse series. Is that snow on the roof?

Congratulations on your 500th post, Ruth!

Are you going to publish a little book about your lighthouse photographs?

Comments by Ruth Rittichier on Thu, 08/19/10 21:29

Thanks, Mo. Publish? Don't think so. I once made a little book at a seminar led by Russell Brown from Adobe. You printed the photos onto this looooong strip of paper, then folded it into a book. Very clever. Mine was of some of my lighthouses. That's the full extent of my being published. ;-) See Photo. Ruth

Quite a feat congratulations. In the OP the I'd clone out the green buoy. The ship is magnificent full sails and flags flying. Very nice 500'th post.

This caps off your light house series nicely. Great series. The book looks like a real collectors item!
