African Grey Parrot

Something different from me. This is my baby African Grey Parrot. He is a great
poser and doesn't mind to be photographed.

What a beautiful bird you have here Christopher and strongly presented with clear sharp detailing to bring out the nature of the parrot's plumage. I never realized that parrots had such prominent talons before... if you look just at the talons one thinks a predator bird and I don't consider a parrot to be a predator bird. The contrast between the parrot and the background serves to bring a 3D feel to your composition. I just did a Google to find out if the red of the tail feathers is under the wings... it isn't and I found out that these birds can live 50 to 60 in captivity with the longest having lived for 72 years.

Everything needing to be done for a beautiful portrait has been done. The gray on gray
works perfectly with a dash of red.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments. Jan, yes parrots have prominent talons very similar
to birds of prey and as you said they are estimated to live very long if they have a balanced
diet. Les Perry, this was lit using two studio lights. The main light was at the front but to the
right hand side while the fill light was on the left hand side slightly behind the bird.

What a lovely baby you have. Very good lighting and sharpness. I do noticed that the neck area seems a little blurred but I guess that is OK...;-) Great work as usual.
