What The Heck

Just back from a couple days in AZ. Spotted this guy and his family on a point near Mather Point sunning them selves shortly after dawn. Eventually they moved off the point and I climbed down from the rim to look for another vantage point with a Canon dslr and 70-200 zoom set to f2.8, 1/320, iso 800. His lady appeared on the trail in front of me and started chewing grass and acting like she didn't see me. I know she did see me because I was wearing a bright red parka and kneeling on her trail 9 meters away. She kept giving me a sideways glance. I didn't stand up or move anything but the camera. I got several shots of her before she left. Then the boss showed up, also 9 meters out. He checked me out for about 15 seconds and followed mama. Junior follow after dad. This was hand held and this shot has been cropped just a tad. What fun!! Appreciate any and all comments. Greg

Great look from the boss with those magnificent horns... that gaze transfixes me in my tracks and I'm just sitting at my computer.

Amazing image, Greg, talk about being in the right place at the right time. I didn't see any of these guys on my visit, but others I spoke to say they did. They are known to wander close to the top of rim on the south side (where we were)right near the visitor's centre.

Great shot Greg, it's not often we see animals like this in the wild on PC.

You got him nice and sharp...and his pose is very nice too. Great job!

Such an excellent shot! And in the wild, too. There must be a contest for you to win, or a magazine cover waiting in your future.

Looks great! Prepared = right place, right time. Jealously speaking. I think my camera and
lens survived the sand shower. I hope yours did too. ttul
