Navajo Tribal Park

We took a tour with a Navajo Indian Guide at Monument Valley, Arizona. The vistas were absolutely gorgeous and the clouds cooperated so nicely that day.

This is a total awesome image, it just doesn't get better then this, color composition and cloud formation is super.

Your photograph of Monument Valley is particularly striking when set against a black background... the colors really "pop" while the available highlights the vertical forms of the mittens. I like the perspective with the rock formations set against the lightness of the cloudy sky, the lighting which works to draw out the texturing to be found in the rock formations, and the overall paintlike feel of the composition.

Exceptionally well done in composition and restraint on the saturation. Beautiful light.

Lovely work with the light and colours. The angle from which you shot helps convey the vastness of the landscape and the awesome size of those tors. The cloud cover helps by adding interest in the sky and creating interesting shades on the ground. The only thing I would do is change the border, which is half brown and half black; I'd make it all black.

"Arizona Highways" (although this is likely NM) quality - very nice!

Nothing like the smell of the desert after a rain.
The sky and lighting here is perfect.

Right place, right time and right set-up. Sometimes the stars and the planets do align for us.
And exceptional image.

The right talent in the right place at the right time!Any touch ups in PS at all? I won't kiss and tell :)

Nice scenery but I am a bit puzzled by the large difference in saturation between the foreground and background. As above, how much PS work is there?

Comments by Richard Dong on Tue, 02/06/07 21:34

Nice scenery but I am a bit puzzled by the large difference in saturation between the foreground and background.

Low lying clouds, indications of precipitation, ergo misty skies, lower saturation...blah, blah, blah

I've seen this area photographed many times; it's hard to do the west justice with its intrisic beauty but this stands out; it's magnificent.
