What a wonderful photograph of the harvest mice busy at their work. The contrast between the foreground elements and the background really serve to make the mice and cones stand out strongly in the image. The catchlights in the eyes bring the little creatures to life for me.

OMG, this is wonderful. One frame or two?

Those tails remind me of the kangaroo rats that live in the deserts of Arizona. Very cute little creatures, those and these. I don't know how you got that background, but it's perfect to show off the beautifully toned mice and thistles. Neat how the long tails repeat the shape of the dried thistle sepals.

Are those very large teasels or very tiny mice? Very nice, Les.

Wonderfully Whimsical!

Questions, questions... Did they climb up there on their own and is that something these types of mice often do? I can't imagine that it's all that comfortable balancing on those pointing things. One photo or composite? Very cool.

I'm glad Linda is here to properly identify the plant! Teasels not thistles. And bracts not sepals.

Thanks for all your kind comments!

Yep Linda is Queen of all plant life. (Linda Both large Teasels and very small mice)

Except for a crop as shot, found myself with the wrong lens on,was using a 300mm 2.8 and min focus distance was to long to get in close on one teasel so stepped back a bit and managed to grab this shot before it was lost!

Makes me want to see what's below them! :)

Les, very interesting shot. Never seen something like this which makes
me like it that much more. One thing that bothers me though is that
there is no space on the left side. Other than that, BRAVO!!!

Very cool and unusual image. Great job but I do agree with Sal on needing more space on the left side though.;-)
