The peppering of hay bales across the slope serves to lead the eyes of the viewer to the crest of the hill with a sense of anticipation for what lies beyond. Simple with a strong sense of the Prairies.

A poetic image to my mind. Harvest time, season's end, the cycle completing, winter is coming. At first glance every kind of thing seems alike. But is the sky the same from one end to the other? Is the field? Are not the bales individuals? And what about tomorrow?

Hay Fields
--Hap Rochelle

hay fields in
sultry summer
sweat stained
cap and gloves
dust floating
in the muggy air
muscles ache
by end of day

I like the variety of shapes that you captured in the bales.

With a little selective coloring, you could go after the hippy set... Purple Hays!
