The contrast between Meg and the darkened nature of the background serves to bring a 3D quality to the image, for me. Wonderful quality to the eyes with the catch lights and the accompanying sense of texturing. I might have cropped up slightly from the bottom to eliminate the red elements... just seem to draw one's attention away from your superb portrait of Meg.

The tussled hair (lit perfectly) suits this portrait of an active little one with her baby cheeks and cute shirt. Nice light all around. Agree with Jan about the crop.
