Winnipeg, Mb.

This image was taken on a cold but sunny day in December of 2013 looking south across the Canadian Pacific North End Yard. One can get a sense of the cold from the engine in foreground with icicles hanging from it.

And in case you were wondering it was -20C with a windchill of -30C... but it was sunny.

I get the sense that I've posted this image previously but in the time that PC was off line a number of images disappeared from my gallery so I'm not sure.

On August 24th, CN Woodcrest Shop released the painted natural gas tank car “CNW1” which was purchased from Union Pacific (with the same CNW1 number) for use as a fuel tender CN's LNG locomotive project. It departed Markham Yard August 27th.

I just liked this image panning the engine as it came to an opening through the trees behind the Union Station in downtown Winnipeg. I like the painterly feel of the surroundings with the engine fairly clear at the heart of the picture.

I find that a b&w format seems to work well with some images of trains as is the case here with a serpentine feel created by the long line of the rail cars in the North End CP Yard in Winnipeg.

Hi Jan, I do get a sense of cold from the first picture.
I love the last pic too of the tank cars. Very well captured.

Interesting shots, all of them. My favorite is the last, with the snaky train cars. I wonder what's in them? Some sort of petroleum product, I'd guess?

When I saw the first I just knew there would be more. I was well rewarded by clicking through. Each different but each a part of the Winnipeg story. The original gateway to the West when north of the 49th parallel.

Are you a NIK software rep?
You're tempting me to invest in some new software!

The abstract grabs me for its depiction of a bustling railyard. The first makes me wonder how things get done when it's below zero F out there?
