Fruiting Bodies of the Forest

I would like to see which one of these gets judged best. I cannot decide! It's a failing of mine. I'm going to submit just one to be judged by my camera club. If you have the time, just type a number, 1-7 with 1 being the OP. Thanks, I'd appreciate it.

Sorry, I meant a number from 1-4. This one is a manipulation and isn't in the running.

2 for me Michael. I liked your original composition from a few days back but I find #2 works best in my mind . There is a glow to the picture which works to make the individual mushrooms stand out like little neon signs. The darkened foliage serves as a natural framing for the grouping of mushrooms.

No. 4 for me.

torn between 2 and 4, but probably 2

I think I like the 4th pic the best.;-)

#2 for me

I count 3.5 points for #2 and 2.5 points for #4.

I've never seen anyone submit two versions of an image even though club members do submit two images for each monthly meeting. Seems appropriate for these mushrooms, though, so I'm doing it. This month's images are to be in the "Nature" category. No manipulations allowed other than what might have been done to a film negative or positive. No cloning or even spot removal.

Thanks Jan, Steve, Linda, Paul, Sandi, and Greg for looking and choosing.

There's something to like about each. The tones in the OP remind
of of a 50s b&w movie for some reason. My favorite is the
penultimate. The last could be a cautionary tale of the dangers
(or adventures?) of those funny mushrooms.

Sounds like a fun photo club. So lightening, darkening,
burning/dodging of specific areas, contrast enhancements,
cropping, etc, are allowed? I mostly only do that digitally
equivalent stuff anyway -- and some occasional cloning.

Johnny, yes, all is permitted if you could have done it with film in a darkroom. Them's the rules from the PSA (Photograpic Society of America). You can remove lens spots but cloning out anything is not allowed. This rule would be for the "Nature" category. The "Open" category permits anything.

Oddly enough, the Mt. Baker Camera Club, which is located neaby where I live, is presently ranked #2 in the very tippy-top group at the PSA, Nature category. They are hot stuff. It ranks pretty high in the Open category as well.
