**********************************************************

I just wanted to share some pictures which I took during 2016. This picture of the pair of geese and the two ducks really spoke to me of the strength and endurance of creatures. The geese had just flown in on their migration from the south while the two ducks had wintered over on the Assiniboine River.

Through the cold and wind and the snow the two mallards sat beside a small opening in the ice and I guess the best way to describe it... they endured a cold Manitoba winter. I would imagine either one or the other or both were injured and since there was nowhere to go they just sat on the ice and waited for Spring.

People fed them with the pair of mallards having to share their meals with the local squirrels and black birds. One sees geese wintering over because of injury or sickness but this is the first ducks I've seen on the local waters in winter.

Another good set of photos, Jan. I like that last one. The difficulties of having a young
family.

Thanks Jan. You are very good at capturing the memories of a season! Well done.

I love the pickles and relishes. Great colors and such a statement about how the hard
work of canning and pickling pays off when we enjoy it in winter!
Who needs a refrigerator anyway?
