It is the luck of the draw when it comes to photographing our polar bears. I went for three weeks and there were no polar bears to be photographed... either in their denning cave or far off from where one can access a view of the polar bears. And then there are the bears in all their glory acting like polar bears swimming in the water, play fighting with each other or just playing in the water.

I like these images where the bear is rising in the water and its reflection comes into play in the picture.

Great shots Jan. May you never be this close to them without that
protective glass! Amen.

A good sampling of what one may capture on any given day. Having been
there I know it is not an easy place to shoot amongst other viewers
and the crazy movements of the bears.

There is a program that comes up once in a while called the Edge of Canada which explores various portions of the country and in one of the segments there was a visit to one of the National Parks in the islands of the Arctic and everywhere people went there was an armed guard with them because of the presence of the polar bears.

I just remembered this site where one can get a webcam view of the polar bears in the Churchill area.

Wonderful, how you can come up with such variety with singular subject.

I love that last shot.;-)

I like this particular shot... that extended paw as the bear swims towards where I was standing really fixed my attention.

One last shot. One of the smaller bears was sleeping on top of the hill and then along came Storm (the large male)... and then we know who's number 1 in the hierarchy.
