I was going to wait until the New Year festivities down at the Forks on Sunday night to get an image welcoming in 2018 but the weather is making me second thinking going down there. It is supposed to be -26C with a windchill of -31C and while I can take the cold it is rather difficult to photograph the celebrations and so I went with a picture of the fireworks display from December 31, 2016.

I had never been so close to the actual fireworks from where they were being set off on the far shore and I liked the low perspective with the fireworks rising overhead against the midnight sky.

So to everyone at Photocritique all the best in the New Year and may there be good health and lots of photographic opportunities.

I liked the contrast from the usual early morning at Forks Market and the New Year's Eve crowd.

waiting for the fireworks and then to discover you were in the wrong place and so I ended up with these of the fireworks, the silhouetted people against the city skyline
