Oil Painting by Luke Williams, Sr. in 1958

Here is an oil painting from 1958 that was the last work of Luke
Williams, Sr., of Spokane, Washington.

It was completed just weeks before the artist lost his sight
completely. It was left to me by my mother, in 1995.

It is unfortunate that the painter lost his eyesight... he had an eye for color and form. The frame is overwhelming... more of a simple matte might work better with subject matter to my mind.

Luke Williams, the father of the electronic sign industry? Cool!

Something you might see hanging in the Ridbath Hotel's lobby there in Spokane. Nice looking piece.

Yes, Paul. His sons Chuck and Luke owned American Sign and Indicator
Corp., where my father was a Regional Sales Manager and one of the
inventors of the Time and Temperature signs they leased only to financial
institutions: banks, S&L's, etc.

The painting was a gift to my parents from the artist.

I agree with Jan regarding the gaudy frame, but that was my mom's choice
and it has remained in that frame since 1958.
