Candid Camera at the Wedding

Taken at Crystal Mountain Ski Resort, off season. You'd think such an athletic and mountain high place wouldn't attract smokers all that much. But youth conquers all and keeps ya thin.

A wedding picture that will never grace a wall one would imagine but one that captures another side of the wedding... far from the grace and pomp of the ceremony of marriage.

I looked at this several times and how I could comment on it without offending. It's
nearly comical but I think Jan's comment about "another side" is very well seen. That
doesn't mean I'd stick it in an album.

We are all frail creatures, Jeff, don't you think? We ought to be more than willing to laugh like hyenas at ourselves. But then there is something else in something comical: poignancy. A wedding has an assortment of stressful aspects even as it is in theory a pristine affair accompanied by great joy. The point, if you allow me, of a photo of a bride releasing tension by having a smoke with close friends away from the crowd was never meant for an album, though I would think some couples might have a laugh if they did.

The stress at some weddings is so high that it is understandable if the bride needs to calm her nerves. I tried shooting a few weddings years ago and it is not for the faint of heart. Kudos to anyone who can do it!

Staring at this photo, one has to wonder which takes priority? I can
just imagine this on a billboard.

Being a MD I am repulsed by smokers .

I agree, but at one point doctors promoted smoking. Look at these advertisements.
Vintage illustrations too!

You've caught the seedy side of the wedding. Great image.
