Snow Canyon

Snow Canyon State Park near St. George, Utah (SW corner of the state). Named
after an early pioneer as it seldom snows in this area. The Petrified Dunes were
once regular sand dunes but now all the grains are glued together for the benefit
of hikers and photographers, probably from volcanic activity. A great place for
leg workouts. Just don't step on the Moqui Marbles (thousands of marble sized
sandstone rocks found mostly on the flatter areas).

The sense of texturing, the colors and the lighting all work hand in hand to create a superb landscape composition. I find a black background color works to enhance all these elements for me.

VERY nice shot; as far as I'm concerned, this is a perfect photo - no adjustment needed. Good job!

Intersting subject abd well captured Jeff. I'm sure it was difficult to not "blow out" the light area in the foreground and still keep the background area.
