Sunrise at Blanket Bay

This image was posted last week at very small size. I thank the several members who made helpful suggestions which, after some muddling around, enabled me to work out how to get it to an acceptable size. Much appreciated.

I find with the quality of the lighting coming in at an angle from the right and highlighting the waves that a black background works well. I like the complementary nature of the color and lighting of the sea and the cloudy sky with the black strand of the shoreline serving as a zipper to whole the two elements of the picture together into a coherent whole.

I like the composition and the lighting. There's probably some detail in the foreground rocks that could be brought out in PS or a similar program. I think there's an ever so slight tilt in the far water line. Right side lower than the left. It might be a safe bet you're handholding using a high ISO, either film or digi. You're stuck with a shutter speed high enough to stop the water action. Using a tripod you at least have the option of dropping the ISO (easily with digi) and getting a shutter speed slow enough to smooth out the water in the foreground.

Ditto about the light and the composition! Very pleasing to me.

Glad to see you got the posting size figured out.

Nice light, and I like the way you've stopped the waves.
