Water Tank - Baudette, MN

Baudette Minnesota is on the Ontario boarder west of International Falls. The Rainy River marks geographic separation between the two counties and the enormous Lake of the Woods is just to the North.

Looks like you went to Great Lengths to get these shots!

Not really great lengths Bradley. I was there on a flight to Oshkosh, WI and of course I could not head back to NY without stopping in to see my beloved sister in Baudette.

I like the near symmetrical feel of the your posted image, the coloring, and the perspective. I used to enjoy the trip from Warroad through Baudette down to International Falls. I liked the little communities, the Rainy River, and just the nature of the setting. Remember stopping all along the way to take benefit from the coolness of the rest areas by the Rainy River.

Ha. Bradley and Ruth, I missed your reference to the lettering - Great Lengths. I suppose they mean they go to great lengths to cut your hair to the correct length. The people in small towns are getting far too sophisticated for me.
Jan, the town seems just as sleepy as you remember it. A beautiful area to visit.

If you felt like playin'you get an interesting graphic by cropping down to just above the band of color at the roof line, crop up to the bottom of the awning, leaveing the "Great Lengths.....", and losing the sign on the left.
I try to avoid cropping suggestions, but this just seemed fun; to play off the logo on the green awning. A pano of great lengths;-])

you sure it's a hairdresser?

I thought it was American spelling for 'saloon' and that the refreshments were gravity fed from the tank above

You are probably quite right Rosina. There is a shortage of o's here in the states, and we see them much less often in pairs nowadays.

I like the tension created by the 'expected' symmetry and the fact that he chimney is not
centered and the windows are not symmetrical.

It is indeed unexpected and interesting. I can imagine it with wheels, traveling across the continent!
