Everything in the image seems to be on fire... the coloring of the background foliage, the bird itself, and even the wheelbarrow. The sense comes through the best for me when set against a gray background.

We just got a bit of rain and cooling down into the 80s. What a relief!
The picture definitely gives the feeling of a scorcher. The red bird, red wheelbarrow, and red "flame" all are in keeping with the theme.
I might suggest lighter colors to match the beaching effect of the sun.

Well done to transmit the feel of the heat! I never know the equivalence of F to C, but Santarém, Évora and Beja will have 40ºC today. Lisboa stays cool with 36... :-(
