The colors are muted with the sense of life reduced to its very basics but one really has the feel of winter time... one can feel the cold with the wind blowing through the dry grasses. A black background works well with this image to complement those muted colors and to help make the elements of the setting stand out more strongly. I pass by similar scenes to this nearly every day but I refuse to take out my camera and take a photograph... from your composition... my loss.

I like the lines formed by the grass. And the little bush accents it well.

All your snowscapes have a calming quality about them.
Somehow I don't feel the cold at all!
