Misty Morning

I had been waiting for weeks for fog to come in so I could take a picture I'd been wanting to take. This was early in the morning and the picture was 1/2hr. away. By the time I got there the fog had burned off too much to take the picture. Decided to take the "senic" route home and got lucky when I saw this scene. You win some, you lose some.

I have the same desire to get some early morning fog images but rarely see any fog or mist. There is a moody feel to the picture created for me by the muted nature of the sun trying to break through the fog.... this along with the low perspective and the leading feel created by the driveway and the fencing works to capture a sense of solitude... of peacefulness. A grey background works well with this picture complementing the toning of the fog.

Way to go Allen. Great photo. Great hunting !!

Very well done. I played with cropping quite a bit of the top, perhaps 2/3 of the way down to the sun and the little bit of black from the bottom. I think the gate stands out more strongly as a panoramic photo.

Lovely evocative image well rendered. I agree with Gail about a crop from the top, although I would leave the bottom as it is.

I imagine there is an old saying about planning for one thing, but getting another, maybe better, but I can't think of any right now.

Fine shot.

it's a lovely photo Allen.
I wish it were mine.

I had to laugh at Linda's comment...
Immediately..I thought..

I saw her today at a reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she would meet her connection
At her feet was her footloose man

No, you can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
And if you try sometime you find
You get what you need //

Thanks to everyone for taking time to comment.

Karen: So good to hear from you again. The quote from the Rolling Stones is very apropo.

Sometimes I get emails when someone comments, sometimes I don't. Not sure if it's my email or a problem with the site?

No, it's the site.
And I wish I could figure out how to turn off the italics tag :-)

Beautiful work as always Allen.

Those Stones, they were pretty smart sometimes...

Wow, I'd say you really lucked out finding this scene on the way home, Allen! How beautiful. I wouldn't crop it either, although it looks nice cropped. I just love all that golden sky..it is the scene you saw through your viewfinder, after all. ;0)
