This shot was also taken during the Bushfires.
No filters or adjustments have been used to change the colour, this is just how it was. As I said with the other postings of the fires, we had some amazing effects.
We had a few days like this that were referred to as the "Orange Days" and there were "Red Days" and Yellow Days",with a lot of just very dark smoky days thrown amongst them.

A really other worldly feel to this image created by the color of the bushfires. Maybe I asked previously but what was the air like to breathe... I would imagine that it must have hazardous to some degree to remain there with smoke like this... I know locally when farmers outside the Perimeter Highway in Winnipeg want to burn they need to get approval and take into account the wind so that the smoke produced by burning acreage doesn't cover the city but even with that people suffering from asthma and other breathing disorders still suffer.

I really like this image. I am glad to know that it is not manipulated, because that does cause an other worldly type of feel to the image. I think it could be improved by cropping both the right and left intruding branches out of the photo, although that does put the small bush on the left quite close to the edge.

Thankyou for your comments,(I'll give your cropping suggestion a go and see how it looks).
The air was not good at all to breathe. We used face masks most of the time, I suppose they helped a little but the smoke still burned your throat and stung your eyes, I don't know how the fire-fighters cope with it, they are a pretty amazing bunch of people.
My 12 year old son suffers from asthma and he had to stay with his Grandmother (whom lives quite a way from here) for the duration of the fires. There really were no kids in town, partly because of the conditions but mostly because it was deemed dangerous for them to stay. There were no pets here either and the livestock that could be moved away, were.
That I suppose intensified the eerie feeling, without the kids, animals, birds and the wildlife (they took it on themselves to leave the area), it was so incredibly quiet.

Spooky, especially when you describe the lack of livestock and children!

Fine image, love the colours and the stark effect. I agree that the branches at right and left are an intrusion, but if it were me I would clone them out rather than cropping - I would not like to lose the wide angle effect.

Another amazing photo of your 'orange days'! Your commentaries are so informative and very interesting to read, Katherine. I would agree with Rory, and try to clone rather than crop. ;0)
