On seeing ancient graffiti such as this one wonders how much of what exists as graffiti today will exist a comparable number of years in the future or will we only be seeing this ancient rock graffiti. The red seems a little oversaturated to me but it probably helps to make the individual graffiti figures stand out in the picture.

Timeless pictures though the rock cracks and begins to erode they stand as a mark of time. Nice.

I can't imagine any word to describe the value and the interest of this rock...
I only hope that these graffiti are well documented and their pictures exposed in some museums...

Thank you all for your feedback!

This location is near Sedona Az. it is on a ranch named the V Bar V.
If you do a google search, you can find information on this fascinating site. These petroglyphs were used by the Sinagua Indians for several hundred years. (Sinagua translates to "without water".
As best the experts can tell it was used as a calendar, and light shafts that come through the narrow shaft of rock in the photo, coincide with the Summer and Winter solstices.

The time period of hundreds of years helps to explain why there is such a jumble of petroglyphs. Hard to tell the stories of hundreds of years in such a small space.

I saw some interesting photos on some of the websites. This one http://www.gatewaytosedona.com/article/id/59/page/1 shows the line of light that shines onto the rock, possibly highlighting the current season?

Yes Linda you are correct. In the upper left of the photo you see a spiral that leads to a stair step line, the light hits each step precisely marking astronomical seasons as well as harvesting and hunting seasons.
