I found that using the shadow/highlight function in CS3 helped to give more definition to the contrast between the green leaves and the ice and snow in the background. That opened the picture for me and gave the leaves much more presence in the image while heightening the texturing of the various elements that make up the image.

I like the composition and the dof. Would prefer a little less noise - but suppose it was unavoidable, here.

thanks for the comments. I am working on trying to add 'presence and to reduce the noise. Weird- I like that. :)

Jan I applied some shadow/highlight along the lines you suggested and did some other things to try an add 'presence'. Maria I reduced the noise a little. At ISO 400 with a major crop there was a lot of noise.
