One butterfly feeding on a flower

This butterfly was found near the eastern edge of Eglin Air Force Base, in NW Florida-USA, on 14 July 2011.

The D300 has a Image Overlay feature and this was used to combine two images (in the camera) into one.

Lens: AF 80-400mm VR Nikkor
ISO: 500

The contrast between that of the butterfly and the diffused feel of the background serves to make the butterfly stand out strongly in the image. The clarity of detailing and the color and patterning on the form of the butterfly enhances the visual impact of the image.

The over exposure is right because the dark wings, Gerald... :)
Butterfly has an elegant pose.
Flowers has a fresh and aromatic appearance.
The overall picture is pleasing and interesting.
