Even among the clutter and various colors of the pond the heron stands out strongly in the image. I wonder if there is a fish at the end of the heron's gaze?

If the Egret is tack sharp and can stand the crop I'd get rid of the background branches.
It's a very busy composition and the branches unnecessarily add to it.

Jan, I'd bet sooner or later there will be a fish at the end of its beak.

Jeff, I have another one all ready in respone to that woodpile! I like the wood there for the sake of natural history, but thanks, I think you are right about the photograph being too busy.
