Here are the clouds:
Also, I wanted to adjust the WB to get a better tonal range, but I
didn't realize till later how I could achieve such. (I think a
combination of stacking and layer masks could achieve this).

An interesting find with the facade of the structure standing out strongly in the opening picture. I find the inclusion of the wiring and the overhanging branches draw away from the nature of the building but the inclusion of the setting sun adds a dramatic feel to the image. One can crop down to just the building and the wiring in the opening picture but for yourself that probably defeats the whole purpose of taking the shot but I think one would have to see the building for one's self just to see what other possibilities there might be.

Looks like a great old church to have some photo fun with. Definitely a dramatic angle.
It does't work for me but fine as long as it works for you. Considering the age of the
church I would work on a composition without the wires, utility box and chain link fence.
In the second photo one of the wires is slicing through the cross. From your narrative of
the scene it sounds like you lack confidence in the photo. You describe it as a
"dramatic angle" and then say you would've preferred "less of an angle." The only
thing that makes this any more than a photo taken by a camera toting tourist passing by
is the angle and that makes it gimmicky.

Thank you Jan & Jeff.
I appreciate the insight as well Jeff; it is a critical point.
The majority of my lack of confidence is from the potential in this
building, that I did not capture. Here are some additional
compositions for reference...
The last one is a more preferred styling, but it lacks the sun, which
is why I didn't use it.
