The slight blur creates the illusion that the statue is alive...

...and attempting to pinch his cheek!

Guy's got a mean face on. Incongruous with the statue. An English teacher might show this to a class and ask the pupils to write a compare and contrast essay. Someone might write the statue represents humility and studiousness while the fellow probably has his sights set on being a cop.

Very uncommon take.
Nice contrast between the statue and the man
Nice contrast between the past and present
Nice contrast between the black and the white elements, the in and out
of focus
Well balanced and dynamic photo
Reminiscent of many photos of the '60s and '70s
Quite refreshing in the overabundance of everything is nice and
perfect computer made photos of today.
Fine seeing and well realised photo...good take angle...

Thanks for all the thoughtful comments.....I caught this image a few years ago while snapping away like crazy in the Louvre... My intent was to juxtapose the two statues , but just as I snapped the shutter, I realized the fellow in black was standing motionless , probably as not to interfere with the shot. Only , last night, while reviewing some old photos, did I really zero in on this image and was struck by the almost symbolic imagery which made this a much more interesting photo than I intended.....I wish I could take credit for a more creative intent, but truth is this was just a lucky accident. :-)....
