Excellent. I've never seen anything like this on this site. Maybe the contrast could be
boosted a little. Could you explain your process?

Like the idea. Not crazy about the processing.

Has a bw neg feel to it.

This image works well with a black background which helps to enhance the presence of the swarming birds in the picture. A ghostly sense for me.

I was working in Lightroom 4 and looking for something 'different'.
Basically I brought down contrast, clarity and highlight. Played around with the black
and shadows. I liked the 'smoky' feel...kinda in line with Les' comment. If I increased
the contrast...I lose the effect.
Unfortunately, I did not take a sophisticated approach like more advanced folks.
I do not yet have a program like Photoshop. Perhaps the more advanced members on
the site can offer suggestions to me for a program that is user friendly while enabling
options for creativity. Thanks.

Creative. I like creative. Evokes many things: Hitchcock, wallpaper, aluminum, fog... Balance of form within the frame is nice.

Photoshop: I don't use it anymore. I suppose PS might be worth the price to professionals, but for a casual amateur like me, it's just not worth it. Paintshop Pro is a pretty good package (has layers and lots of other nice features) and is way cheaper than PS. Paintshop doesn't have the workflow stuff that PS has but, again, unless you're processing LOTS of photos, you might not miss it. BTW: Photoscape is a free package that's very easy to use and has all the basic features.

I like it. As Jacky said, very Hitchcock look.
I use Corel Paintshop Pro which is very user friendly and suits me just fine. It's sort of a basic PS that is good for amateurs and the price is really good compared to the other high end stuff. Google it and read some reviews on it to get a better picture of what you are looking for.;-)

Cool image - like it represents a flashback from a bad dream.
I use Corel PSP like Sandi but actually I don't like using it. Sometimes I use Gimp when PSP frustrates too much.
